I have set up a Windows 2003 Enterprise edition SP1 server to trial somemapped
remote access software. I'm having problems running applications from
drives. I've set up a user as a member of the administrators group and, when
logging in at the system console, can't run any apps on mapped drives.Have
mapped a drive to my XP Pro workstation's Shared Documents folder (sameto
username/password on XP Pro, no Active Directory) and copied notepad.exe
this folder. When trying to run from the server console get an errormessage
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may nothave
the appropriate permissions to access them". This is the same for any appon
a mapped drive. Anything installed to run from the local drives on theserver
is fine.
I'm sure this is just a policy thing or something simple but I can't find
any solution in the ms kbor google, etc.
Any ideas?
You probably need to turn off Simple File Sharing on the
WinxP PC.
