Hi Cliff,
I know it has been a year since you posted this but we just tried to
install Microtype on a terminal server this year and I have the same
issue you had. I was just wondering if you were able to resolve the
issue.
Thanks
Derek

*I have a Server 2003 Enterprise running Terminal Server. On this TS
box I
have installed a program called Microtype Multimedia. It is a typing
tutor
for middle school children.
When I install the program and run it, things work fine. However,
when I
log out and then log back in, I get a wing.dll out of memory error.
The
exact error is "Out of memory or wing.dll corrupt."
I have called the vendor and they don't support the software in TS
and have
left me to myself pretty much. Here's what I have discovered on my
own:
Included with the program is an old windows program called Microsoft
Video
for Windows 1.1. IF I install this program after logging back in,
the
program will run fine and I get no errors. If I do not install this
Microsoft Video for Windows 1.1, I get the wing.dll error. Also,
even if I
start the install for the Microsoft Video for Windows 1.1 and cancel
it, the
program will run. It seems this Microsoft Video for Windows 1.1 is
loading
something that is unloaded at exit, although I cannot determine what
it
might be.
I will point out at this point that this program ran fine under
Server 2000
TS. Also, one cheesy fix I came up with was to dump the setup.exe
for the
Microsoft Video for Windows 1.1 into my startup folder so that when I
log
in, it gets installed. This works fine for me as I only have to
click the
mouse twice to finish the install and I'm good to go. However, my
students,
the ones who need this program, do not have install rights on the TS
so this
fix will not work for them.
I would appreciate any feedback on this issue.
Thanks
