Re: XP Client can't joing 2003 Domain

Hi,

My guess is that you need to set up DNS forwarders.

Open DNS MMC on your Windows Server and right click on the name of the
server. Now select properties and click Forwarders tab. Here enter IP
address of e.g. your ISP DNS servers. Once this is done, your clients should
be able to resolve hosts on the internet and connect to them (as long as
everything else is set up correctly).

I have managed to resolve that problem now by reinstalling Windows from
a different image. But now I cant get internet access on any client
PCs!

How do I allow client pc to access the internet?

Thanks, Trent.

Hi,

Can you run

ipconifg /all

on server and client and post back the result.

Can you also run

nslookup server.magi.local

where server is name of your server and post back the results.

Yes, the DNS service is running on the AD server, in the DNS MMC under
Forward Lookup Zones I see two items:
_msdcs.MAGI.local
MAGI.local

P.S - do you have a MSN Messenger account?

Thanks, Trent.

Next thing to check is if DNS service is running on your server. Is
this
running on your Active Directory Server?

If it does, can you open DNS MMC and check which Forward Lookup Zones
can
you see there?

On the client Click on Start > Run > \\dc_server\ and click OK

Replace \\dc_server\ with name of your domain controller

What shares are listed here?
