Great, glad to hear you're up and running.

Thanks for your help Erik. I figured out my problem. I was trying to create.
the RAID array disk by disk instead of using space across all disks. Duh!

Sounds like you already have a partition that is using the whole volume;
you'll have to delete that partition and than create new ones that are
smaller.

Eric,
Thanks for your response.
I have converted the disks to dynamic. I created the raid array. It gives me
one large drive, but only allows for one drive letter and volume label. What
steps do I need to take to make 3 partitions of varying sizes?
Thanks,

Yes, you can convert the remaining 4 drives to dynamic and than create a
Windows' software RAID-5 array across them. That logical volume could than
be partitioned to meet your needs.

HI,
We have a Windows 2003 SP1 server. Hardware is HP ML370. It does not support
a hardware array. As such, I have created a software array. There are six
drives, 2 x 18.2 and 4 x 36.4. The first two are for the O/S. This is simple
enough, I converted to dynamic and created a mirror. The remaining four are
the problem. I need to create 3 partitions, 1 at 28G, 1 at 53G and a third
with the remaining space. However, the only way I can see to achieve this is
by spanning drives. Therefore, I use the first for 28G, then the remainder
plus another and space from a third, I can create my 53G partition. This
meets my partitioning needs, but these drives have no fault tolerance. Is
there a way I can create one large Raid 5 array and partition from there with
separate drive letters? If there is, I have not been able to figure it out.
Please help. Thanks
