RAID in Windows 2003

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

We had RAID 1 on our servers running windows 2003 on Promise S150-SX4-M Raid controlers but we always had problems after one of the disc crashed. It was not possibility to add and rebuild array, and also after we took good disk to another computer we could not read all data. Why the disk taken from raid can not be connected as stand alone disc? It is working when we use Software raid 1.
