Hi. We have one server in our domain that's a dc. all of a sudden one day, we noticed 1030 and 1058 errors in the event log every 5 minutes. This is what our 1058 error says:i have also tried running dcgpofix. it asks me two questions making sure i want to do this. when i press enter after answering the 2nd question, it gives me this error:
Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=shs_admin,DC=com. The file must be present at the location <\\shs_admin.com\sysvol\shs_admin.com\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini>. (The network location cannot be reached. For information about network troubleshooting, see Windows Help. ). Group Policy processing aborted.
This is what our 1030 error says:
Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the event log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine that describes the reason for this.
I have followed several ms knowledge base articles about reseting permissions. I have done that. as for the first error, that policy folder does exist under policies.
we have also noticed when the server boots up, it is taking about 5 minutes before we get a logon screen. it stays on "preparing network connections..." what seems like an eternity.
also, when i try to open \\shs_admin.com\sysvol, it reports that it cannot be opened. Eeek! Will some one please help us!
also, we can no longer access the server anymore, via \\servername or \\ip.address.
we can ping it though by name and by ip address though. i do have access to the server so if anybody is listening I would really appreciate it!
"Unable to read EFS certificates from Registry.pol file of Default Domain Policy. The error was The network location cannot be reached. For information about network troubleshooting, see Windows help."
I have also tried another newsgroup posting about adding \\domain and the ip address in the hosts file. i did that with still no luck. any help would be greatly appreciated!! thank you!
