RE: Windows server identifies the Intel EM64T Processor as an AMD64

Hello,
The platform may be identified as AMD64.
Where are you seeing the processor itself being identified as EM64T?

Device Manager should show the correct processor.
The Process_Identifier variable shows the correct processor.
Process_ Architecture shows the platfrom as AMD64 but this isn't the
processor itself, this is the platform it's calling out..

In any case,
< As a consequence you
<get errors when you try to install software on the server and most
<programmes refuse to run.
The processor (either AMD64 or EM64T) shouldn't be an issue when installing
software. The platform is the same so the software shouldn't care unless
it is something very specific for that processor , like a processor driver.
More than likely the software doesn't like 64-bit version of Windows or
the software is using a 16-bit installer. I doubt this is caused by the
AMD64 reference.
What software is failing to install?

Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]
