Yes, this is security feature in IIS 6.0. It only allows certain files
types and you have to enable others...

Im in the process of migrating a site from 2000 IIS 5.x to 2003 6.0.
I have a downloads section within the site that have static links to
files. The files with .EXE get a 404 error. If I add a fake extention
(.EXE to .EXE.ZIP) and change the link it downloads.
I dont believe its a link or file name issue becuase I simply add another
extension and it works.
Does IIS have some sort of security feature that blocks .exe or .dmg?
