RE: Windows server identifies the Intel EM64T Processor as an AMD6

Hello Clare,
This message "for a machine type other than the current machine"
usually means that it;s for the wrong platfrom. Since this is for Intel
64, could this be for the Itanium release?
Can you run filever against the files in the package?
913111 How to use the Filever.exe tool to obtain specific information about
a file in Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;913111
This should tell us which platforms the files are from.
The AMD64 and EMT64T platforms are the same. I would think that there
would only be one package for both, not a separate package for each.
Where are we locating the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator packages?
Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

<Hello Darrell.
<The response to your queries is as follows:
<
<Both device manager and the Process_Identifier do
<show the correct processor and only under Process_Architecture does it show
<AMD64.
<
<The program that is the most important of the problems we have had so far
is
<the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator. When we go to run the Initiator installer
for
<Intel 64 processors we get a message that the software is "for a machine
<type other than the current machine". We tried various versions of the
<initiator that we found on the Microsoft webpage, but the only one that
<would run is the version released for AMD processors. The one for Intel64
<fails to run. Our difficulty is that we find it hard to troubleshoot any
<problems
<with other software because of not knowing if they are due to this problem
<with
<cpu identification.
<
<For example the Broadcom Net Xtreme network cards have failed since we
<upgraded to
<64 bit; they seem to have loaded an AMD driver.

<Thank you for your help, Please let me know if there is anything else I
<should ask them
<regards,
