Running a Compaq Server, WinServ2000, ExchServ2000.Exchange
Twin 36 GB SCSI in a mirrored array, partitioned as c: (7.81 GB and OS on
it) d: (26.06 Page file on it)
I have only 1.2 gb free on C: and 4: gb free on D and want to defrag my
Exchange on c: where the files are now.
That won't work, so I want to see if there is a way to add 2 new larger
drives (for budget reasons, going SATA 80 GB) (This is until I move
to the new 2003 system I have)with
I am wondering:
Can I add the new drives in a mirrored array, with partitioning of c:
20gb, and D: with the balance?
How do I move the old C; and D: to the new drives?
Waiting until your disks are full to the hilt is a dangerous strategy . . .
You could move your system to the new disks like so:
1. Break the mirror.
2. Clone the old disk to the new disk, using an imaging
product such as Acronis TrueImage.
3. Rebuild the mirror.
Instead of using an imaging product, you could also boot
the server with a Bart PE boot CD (provided that it recognises
SATA disks - I have never tried!), then use xcopy.exe with
the appropriate switches to copy everyhing across to the
new disk.
