Re: Unable to install Windows 2003

You wrote ". . . there is no joy". This is a colloquial expression
that means very little. I suggest you write exactly what happens
when you boot the machine with your Windows CD. You
should also state if you can boot your machine with any other
bootable CD.

Yes, I have tried but do not work as you mentioned.

You do not need to create such a CD - every original
MS Windows CD is bootable. Did you try yours?

Dear Pegasus,

Would it be possible to give me the URL that shows me how to create the
bootable CD for installation of Windows 2003 ?

Hi,

I attempt to install Windows 2003 with BIOS Setting with start with
CD
but
there is no joy.

According to the suggestion by someone in the newsgroup, I boot up
the
Server with Windows 98 FD downloaded from bootdisk.com.

When I boot it up, when I go to i386, run winnt.exe, it says that
smartdrv.exe is not running. However, I am not able to find the
smartdrive
in the FD. Is there any suggestion ?

Thanks

Why on earth would you want to boot your server with a Win98
bood disk? Every Windows OS comes with a self-booting
installation CD and Windows 2003 is no exception!
