Re: Windows Server 2003 and Domain name - DNS issues

Your internal domain name should not be the same as your external name. It
should be abc.internal or abc.lan or something along those lines. Do not use
the .local domain suffix.

Either rename the internal domain or add DNS records in the DNS MMC pointing
to the external IP of your mail and web sites.

Hi, I have created a windows 2003 domain and named my domain eg: x.com.
However I have my website registered with the same domain name though
its still not functional. Its hosted by the registrar at the moment so
if someone tries to visit my website www.x.com it will say still under
construction etc. However from any machine on my domain I cannot access
the website at all. It says page not found etc. I tried from a computer
that wasn't on the domain and it worked and I was able to get to the
website. Surprisingly I just noticed this issue. I have email service
being provided by the registrar as well at email.x.com and am unable to
get to that either. Can someone please assist with solving this issue.
I believe that this is due to dns etc. Yeh because I had to point all
my clients to the AD box which is the server also they go to the server
for name resolution. i am wondering if there is any way to specify on
the server that for all name resolutions go to the ISP dns server. Note
ISP and registrar are separate. Domain name is hosted by registrar for
now. Thanks

.
