I was just looking through some of my posts when I saw this and realized
itI should have updated this a while ago....
The reason new users could not load profiles is because the Default User
profile was something like 4 GB in size. The culprit was Retrospect, the
Backup Application that the server admin was using. Believe it or not,
camewas storing the backup catalogs in the Default User profile. I later
usedacross a few other servers with the exact same problem, as Retrospect is
ofby many in our large organization.
For me this was a new wrinkle to an old problem, so always check the size
thethe Default User profile when new users are unable to load a profile.

| Hi -
|
| Windows 2000 Server, SP4. When a new user (even one with
cannot| rights) tries to log on, a box pops up with the message "Windows
Itload
| the user's profile. There is not enough space on the disk......".
thewill
| create the profile folder, but each subseqent logon creates a new one
with
| .000, .001, etc. appended to it.
| There is plenty of space on the C drive (about 4GB), which is where
redirection or| profiles live. We aren't using roaming profiles or folder
that| anything like that. I checked the size of the Registry in the System
applet
| and it's currently 17MB with a maximum size set to 90MB. Whether the
account
| is a domain one or local makes no difference.
|
| I saw some other weird behavior: When I logged on with an account
had
| this problem I would type "set" and see the profile path from a
previously
| logged on user. (Interestingly, that user also had this problem.)
|
| Any other ideas about what could be causing this?
|
| Thanks.
