RE: Need to delete NTUSER.DAT files

I thought about using this service, but was hoping to avoid it. I was
actually able to get rid of things alot easier than I expected. A simply
reboot of the server allowed me to delete what I needed.
I will say that when I first tried to delete the profiles I was doing it via
a Remote Desktop session into the server. I'm betting at this point that it
was more an issue with that RD session than anything. If I would have tried
to delete them from the server itself it most likely would have let me.
Live and learn I guess.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

My first thought is to install the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service.
(available at MS) but I am not sure how this would interact with Citrix.
Sometimes profiles are left open at logout due to the order of processes
shutting down. This can lead to all sort of problems with profile corruption
being a primary concern. The UPHClean service forces profiles to unload by
completely terminating user sessions.
Assuming this service is compatible with Citrix, this should keep profiles
from being left open in the future, but I am not sure if it will take care of
the current open handles.

Hello,
We have an issue where our nightly backup is failing because it's reaching
the maximum number of errors when tryingot back up our Citrix Server.
Looking back through the logs I've found that the majority of errors are
coming from when the backup software tries to copy the NTUSER.DAT files for
users that have not been with our company for quite some time. Some as long
as a couple years or more.
These users were removed from our domain server but we overlooked cleaning
out the C:\Document and Settings\nUser directories.
So, now I want to delete all these old user profiles from our Citrix Server.
But, of coarse, I get an error saying that I can't because the file is in
use.
Is there any way to get the registry to let go of these NTUSER.DAT and
NTUSER.DAT.LOG files so I can delete them other than restarting into Safe
mode and deleting them from there?
The reason I ask is I'd like to get this done during regular work hours
rather than come in while no one is connected to our Citrix Server.
Since they are domain users I'm not sure the best way to handle cleaning
this directory out.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
