Check your DNS and WINS servers and make sure that the server does not have
multiple listings.

Hi all. Recently i upgraded my exchange/dc from 5.5 to 2003. However there
is
1 particular pc(winxp) that has problems detecting this server. When i
ping
the new server from that pc it always point the server to the wrong ip
address. I cleared the dns and netbios cache, but still the same problem.
The
wierd thing is that the ip address that the pc try to reach the new server
is
not in use at all. The new server runs as dhcp server and i have check all
the dns and wins settings are correct. Eventually i add a record on that
pc
in its host file to point my new server. After doing this it solves the
problem. However i would like to know why is the pc always searching the
new
server in an ip address that is not used? Thks in advance.
