Re: Is it possible to map 2 shares in a remote Server ?

Dear Phill,

Thank you for your advice.

I have changed the security so that the same user can access both shares.
In this way, I can map 2 drives (to those 2 shares) successfully.

Thanks again
Robert

Novell is our network operating system but you are connecting to a Windows
server, explain.

What are your clients XP?
Are you configuring the share at the clients?

You can only connect to a windows server as one user at any one time for
share access. Therefore change permissions on directory to allow both to
access or create common share area where both users have access and put
files to share in here.

one user connection is one cal no matter how many share points the
connection connects to on the same server. (server CAL in per server
configuration)

We are using Novell as our NOS.

I have already mapped the P drive to a share in a standalone Windows 2003
Server. (For instance, username is peter and password is peter & the
share name is also "sharep".

When I create another share in the Server, let me call it "sharem", I
have created the security so that user "mary" with password "mary" can
access this share. However, when I attempt to map this share as drive Q
from my XP workstation, it doesn't allow me to do so.

Does it mean that I have to change the security so that both shares have
the same "username" and "password" for security ?

Besides, from the Windows 2003 Server point of view, if I have mapped 2
shares, does it mean that I am still using 1 CAL ?

Thanks
