If you have two NICs in the same computer on the same subnet (same "broadcast domain" to be precise), both IP addresses will claim to be the IP address for the NetBIOS name of the computer. You'll normally get a duplicate name error somewhere along the way. As the other reply suggests, multi-homing - at least on the same wire - is not recommended. Post back as to why you are multihomed and see if you can find a better solution.

I can map to the server using the ip address. Just FYI we just setup a dual nic situation. One nic to the router, one nic to the switch and 1 line from the switched back to the router.
