Re: Trial 2003 R2 to Full Version upgrade question

Entering the key will not work since they are different (one is Evaluation)
Since both are Enterprise, In Place Upgrade should be fine.
Back-up important data just in case.

In the future it is better to cross post instead of multi post.

This is the Evaluation copy. So for this, you say I have to install the
Full
Enterprise Edition over top of this? Since this server is being used as a
FS
server and I was under the impression all I would have to do is enter a
key
in the beginning, a in place upgrade is the best option for me

Is it Trial/Evaluation or Beta?
Beta is pre-release while Evaluation is the released version with a time
limit.

You will need to perform a Clean Installation either way.
There is no downgrade path from Enterprise to Standard.
Also, for Beta, it is not a good idea to Upgrade, a Clean Installation is
best.

So by necessity and best practice a Clean Installation is required.

hello
I currently have the 2003 R2 Beta running and need to install the full
version to get rid of the time limit. I noticed that the Trial version
is
Enterprise Edition. The Software key and media I received from
corporate
is
the 2003 R2 Standard Edition. Can I put this media in the R2 Beta
server
and
upgrade from there? Will there be a problem since it's Enterprise
Edition
now?

Thanks in advance,
JH
