I installed Windows 2003 SP2 and setup Active Directory; also applied
all windows updates; did not make any changes to the default
user/admin roles/rights/etc. When installing a custom software
package, I got the following error message:
"Unable to install <program name>. Please verify that you have
sufficient privileges to install system services".
This software installs successfully on Windows 2000 Server and
Windows 2003 Server SP1. I am logged onto the domain controller
(Active Directory already configured) as administrator - not an
"adminstrator" like account. Also, the event id returned is 11923
(event message text listed error code of 1923).
Anybody have any suggestions on how to modify 2003 SP2 to allow an
administrator the above right? Thanks!!!
You do have the permissions, if you're using the built-in domain admin
account. I'd contact the software company whose product this is, and ask
them for help, as this sounds like a bogus message to me.
