Re: How do you wipe old servers?

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

The array adapter should be a non issue since the array adapter is what
creates the virtual disks and exposes it to the OS. As long as Boot and Nuke
can see the partition, it will wipe it. We use it to. Boot up off the
preconfigured floppy, type autonuke and away it goes.

Hi,

I got some old Compaq and IBM servers that will soon be phased out and
sold to a hardware broker. However, before they go I want to make sure
that there's no data left on them.
I seem to recall reading about some bootable cds that will do this for
you but am unable to find the article.

I'm looking for something that will do at least a 7-pass wipe of the
disks and will do so with minimal or no user intervention. The tool
should support the most common raid adapters.

Does anyone have any reccomendations?

I use Darik's Boot and Nuke, http://dban.sourceforge.net/

Thanks for the quick reply Phil. How's the RAID adapter support on
that?
