Re: CAN'T LOGIN!! (urgent)

When trying to connect to \\servername\c$ i get connection can't be made.
Reason most likely cause c by default isn't being shared. The network
registry can't be accssed due it i telling me the service isn't enabled.
Booting the server in safe mode may allow login?

I can't tell. When you write "I actaully had already tried to
get to c$ drive over the network that didn't work" you need
to be a lot more specific. Take off your user's hat and put
on your administrator's hat, by writing precisely WHAT
YOU DO to make the connection and WHAT YOU SEE
when it does not work. We can't see your screen, only
you can!

I actaully had already tried to get to c$ drive over the network that
didn't
work. I also tried to do a remote connect through the regedit and that was
a
no go. I got an error how remote registry service may not be enabled. I
can
get to all my regular shared drives just not c and can't connect remotly
through regedit and i can't get on locally at the machine. Any other
ideas???

P.S. I'll be off the air for the next 7 hours. Hope you can
resolve your problem in the meantime!

Ok well it became urgent cause at first we thought it was temrinal
service
issue only but today we needed access to the box and went physically
there
and had this happen.

How can i get in system32 folder form another pc? and how can edit the
srever regsitry form another pc? Cause i think 1 or both those issues
need
to
be resolved.

I have win2k DC server i have noticed that the last couple of days
every
time
we would try to login with the admin account through terminal
services
it
would try to login then immediately log us out before the desktop
even
loaded. Today we tried to login in directly on the server itself
and
we
type
the password it looks like it will load then immediately through
us
back
to
the ctr alt delete screen this is a DC server and we need to get
in
what
is
going on???

There are several possibilities:
1. userinit.exe is does not exist in the system32 folder.
2. HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/Current
Version/Winlogon/Userinit
does not point at userinit.exe in the system32 folder.
3. Your system drive letter has changed.

You can check Option 1 via a network connection.

You can check Option 2 by opening the server's registry from
some networked PC.

To check Option 3, you should run these commands
from a networked PC:
psexec \\server cmd
echo system (make a note of the response!)

If the system drive letter is incorrect then you can set
it right by editing this value in the server's registry:
HKLM\SYSTEM\MountedDevices. Simply rename
the drive letter that you noted to C:. You must then
reboot the server.

BTW, what is the sudden urgency, after two days?
