And additional note: if you are going to host a personal website, you can
just use XP's IIS. Otherwise I suggest that you get a at least the web
edition of WinServer to host.

Also if you are just looking to use Server for hosting a website and you
are looking to use IIS for this function you can save money by purchasing
the Web Edition of Server 2003. EULA of Web Server edition does not allow
programs like Apache to work, you would need a full version.
BUT... in that case, if ALL your looking for is a Web Server you can do
this on XP as well... lots of options here. I would google "Windows Web
Server" for some reads.
Hope this helps,

You can host sites on any version of WinServer 2003.
You can also install Apache and use it to host your sites if you do not
want to use IIS.
I'm sure you can find people over here to hire to assist you in setting
it up. :)

Thank you for the response. I am actually trying to figure things out
that I
should have figured out before I bought the product along the lines of
"is
this really what I need and want?" If I understood the salesman right I
can
use this on a privite network to host our website in developement. I
just
need to know if I should be looking for third party software such as
apache
or is server 2003 a stand alone? I think I will be going down to get a
book
though becase the more I look into this the more complex it looks.
Thanks again for the help

Do you need assistance on how to setup a Windows 2003 server? If so I
would
highly recommend picking up some books at a local book store or maybe
even
hire a local IT company to install/setup your network. If it's just one
certain service or function of Server you need help with please be more
specific.
Good luck to you,
