Server 2003 Windows XP Pro clients - Intermittent network connectivity problems

I have been having a problem with mapped network drives and network
based programs that are disconnecting intermittently. First of all. I
have four mapped dirves on each client computer running XP Pro SP2.
These drives are mapped from Windows Server 2003 running Active
Directory. At times when the clients logon the drives will not map
correctly at all and I recieve the error "Not all network drives could
reconnect". Other times the drives will be bumped at a random time. I
thought it might have something to do with timing out issues or power
save configuration on the NIC but turning off the power save feature
was to no avail. Additionally I am having that problem where the drive
shows up as disconnected but when it is clicked on it is actually there
(Oh yeah and cannot disconnect the supposed disconnect drive). Another
symptom that as developed is a very slow logon at system start up. I
cannot seem to figure out exactwhere the problem lies. Any suggestions
on where to continue diagnosing this problem are more than helpful.
Thanks in advance!
