Re: Upgrading Windows 2003 standard Edition to Enterprise edition

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi

Thanks for the response.

Both the 2003 Standard and Enterprise versions are from the volume licensing
programme.
Are they considered OEM products?

I allready tried with the mentioned workaround from Windows XP in article
Q315349, but it will not install from the copied content on the hard-disk
either, unfortunately...

Hi Brian,

Please refer to:

Also if your WinServer 2003 Standard is an OEM, you will not be able to
upgrade.

If you have tried copying the i386 folder to the hard disk and try
installing from it, please try the methods listed in the link above.

Hope this helps.

I have a problem at my site when trying to do the upgrade.
My server runs Windows 2003 Standard with SP1. I have upgraded hardware to
8GB RAM and now to support this extra RAM i need to upgrade to Enterprise
Edition.

When I put in the Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition with SP1 and select
either
Check Compatibility or Install i get the following message:

"The option to upgrade will not be available at this time because setup
was
unable to load the file D:\I386\WINNTUPG\NETUPGRD.DLL. The system cannot
find
the file specified."

I have checked that the files is there. I have tried to copy the CD
contents
to the hard-drive. Nothing helps.

How do I do an upgrade from Windows 2003 Standard to the Enterprise
version
to support my extra memory?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Nagesh,

Yes it's supported.

Please see:

Just run the setup from Enterprise CD and follow the onscreen
instructions.
Select Upgrade.
