Re: Permissions problem

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Is there other clients editing the file on the server? May I know how the
educational software works? Does it install on every client, but will need
to connect to the server to share the settings etc files?

Please explain further so I can better assist. :)

Thanks, but I have contacted them repeatedly. They tell me that it has to
be set to read/write for all. When I tell them my problems in getting it
changed, they tell me that they will not give server advice. Any
suggestions would really be appreciated!

I suggest that you contact the educational software's company and enquire.
Without knowing what software is that, it's hard for us to help you on
your problem.

Sorry couldn't help much. :(

Hi. I need advice, please. We are running Win Server 2003 on a small
network at our school with about 30 desktops and 9 wireless notebooks.
I recently installed some educational software on the server and on
about 10 of the clients where the clients need read and write privileges
on the same folder on the server. I keep trying to change the
permissions on this folder, but I just can't seem to get it right. We
still get error messages on the clients saying that the folder is
already open for write by another computer. Also, after my changes, no
matter what I do, when I get out of permissions and do properties on the
folder, it still says that it is "read only". Could someone tell me
what I need to do? Thanks!
