Re: File Screens and Email Alert problems

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Jabez was correct in regards to this being an SMTP/Exchange related problem.
I removed the option for Basic Authentication in Exchange 2003 and emails
started flowing.

If anyone is wondering how to find this setting in Exchange 2003, it is in
the SMTP Virtual server settings. Click on the Access tab and then the
Authentication button.

This is going to raise yet another question of course. What problems will
occur if this option is not selected? Can I assume that if Anonymous access
is already selected, then the Basic Authentication is useless?

Jeff,

Please email me with the exact repro steps and the exact place you got R2
(MSDN/Technet/Volume Licensing etc), and please state whether it's the Beta
or the RTM build.

Include the following too:

- Export the System Log (Event viewer)

Kindly email me the results to mingteikg [a t] mvps.org

Thanks!

I finally received our Volume License version of R2 and have successfully
installed it on several servers.

I'm testing File Screens and everything seems to be working as it should
except for Email alerts. I have the file screen setup to send an alert to
the user that gets denied as well as copying myself as the default admin.
When I copy a denied file to the share it gets denied and an event is
generated in the Servers Event log. Additionally it also shows up in the
Storage Reports for file audits. However no email gets send to the
affected
user or the defined admin.

The strange part is that in the FSRM options I can click on the 'Send Test
E-Mail' and that works fine. I get those test emails everytime.

I've searched newsgroups, MS's site, including the Premier site which I
have
access too and cannot find anything about troubleshooting FSRM. The
documentation on these new services are extremely lacking.

This seems so simple so I can't imagine I'm the only one having problems
with this, any help is appreciated.
