Re: windows 2003 Server (180 days Eval) & R2 (180 days Eval)

I searched the install notes and can't find anything about being able to
install a retail one after configurating a trial one.

Yes, you will need to reinstall eveyrthing from scratch.

Well unfortunately that is what I did. Both versions are the trial and I
only did it because the install notes stated that I will be able to
upgrade
at a later time. In retrospect I'm thinking it was only referring win2k3
and
not R2. So basically I will have to re-install everything from scratch?

Thanks for the assistance.

Hopefully I'll be able to save some configuration files.

Hi,

Did you install the trial of R2 to a retail of W2k3 SP1? From memory,
this
isn't possible.

If you have setup a trial of W2k3 SP1 with R2, and configured everything
to
your liking, and would like to make it to a retail version, I'm afraid
that
this isn't possible.

Hi All,

I have a question for you. I downloaded and installed the 180 days
eval of win2k3 enterprise server. A couple days later I installed the
trial version of R2. Now the problem that I'm havng is trying to
upgrade to the full enterprise version.

I was told that there would be an upgrade option, however when I put
the CD in I'm told that I have a newer version of windows installed.
What are my options (if any) since I don't want to loose my
configuration. The only option the CD gives is do a clean install.

I also tried the new R2 CD and was told that R2 is already installed.
Hopefully someone will be able to help me out with a solution. I'm now
thinking that my mistake was upgrading to R2 before upgrading to the
retail version.

Thanks for any help in advance
