Your first steps should be to ascertain if Windows 2000
Server is still operational, by booting the machine with a
Windows boot disk:
- Format a floppy disk on some Win2000/XP PC.
Don't do it on a Win9x PC - it won't work.
- Copy these files from the \i386 folder of your Win2000 Server to A:\
ntldr
ntdetect.com
- Create a file a:\boot.ini with these lines
[Boot Loader]
Timeout=3
Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server"
/fastdetect
You may have to adjust "partition(1)" according to your own
boot partition, and also "WINNT".
Can you boot the server with this diskette?
