Re: Read only file permissions

I have what appears to be an identical problem on a 2003 server. My users
and admins have full control both locally and as a share permission but the
folders show a read only attribute and access via the share prevents copying
to and saving in the folder, no problem locally but if a file is opened in
word it shows read only, even if the file does not have read only attributes
set.

I tried removing the folder read only using ATTRIB as per Article ID :
326549 which did not work, fiddled with it a bit and it appeared to generate
messages that showed it was doing what it should ie not modifying hidden file
.........

BUT the folder attribs did not change.

I set this server up and other shares on it both as home drives and mapped
drives work correctly and these folders seem to have the same setup. They
only thing being they have their own path back to the root of the drive in
question, ie only one directory tree on the drive is affected by this and it
seems identical to the other working directory trees on the drive.

As last resort I will recreate the directory structure but there is really
too much data in it for me to want to do this if there is an alternative.

Do you have any suggestions?
