Re: SMTP server refuses to relay

I know it was little information, but had to start somewhere. I'm new to the
mailserver stuff and am experimenting with it. This seems to be the easiest
thing to set up. It did work (sometimes) before.

- The host is connected to the internet through NAT. Local adress for the
host is 192.168.2.100. I enabled SMTP (port 25) and set it to connect to
192.168.2.100.
- Telnet localhost 25 just keeps on waiting, no respons. Seems to time-out
and returns without any message after a while. I tried it as well on the
local address as the external address (from inside, so from e.g.
192.168.2.2).
- I did not set up the domain for which to relay (at least not
deliberately).
- The SMTP virtual server screen shows 3 domains:
<computername>.<domainname>.net, <domain name>.net and
......_msdcs.<domainname>.net
- The client software ends with error 0x800CCC0F
- I'm using an alias for the server so mail1.<domain>.net which seems to
result in the error above (thought I solved that before)
- when using the real server name the message is: error 0x800CCC7C Must
issue a STARTTLS command first. Server error 530.

I just want to use the server to relay messages from inside our office to
the internet for now.
