is the server Domain Controller or member server?May I know the way to disable the SMB protocol in my Windows 2003 server? The reason why is because ever since we setup the new Windows 2003 Server as our new file server most of our Windows 98 user workstation always got hang half way when they are using the share drive from the Windows 2003 server. I need to disable it until we upgrade all of them to Win2k Pro or XP Pro at the later stage.
At least there is a group policy which you can use to disable the signing in certain situations:
Computer Configuration / Windows Settings / Security Settings / Local Policies / Security Options / Domain Member: Digitally encrypt or sign secure channel data (always) = DISABLED
(when possible) should be set to ENABLED)
Computer Configuration / Windows Settings / Security Settings / Local Policies / Security Options / Microsft Network Server: Digitally sign communications (always) = DISABLED
(if client agrees) should be set to ENABLED in this case)
