I added a DFS link of my share folder 'TEST' to DFS, but I found there are 4 folders in the DFS Root folder. One is "TEST", one is "TEST_NTFRS_07ff30bf", one is "TEST_NTFRS_07ff33cd", and the last is "TEST_NTFRS_07ff360f". So strange.
If I have 10 share folders in DFS, then there will be 40 folders in DFS Root folder. My users will be confused. Anybody can tell me why ? Is there any solution ?

The _NTFRS_* folders are copies of the original folders that were replaced when you enabled the replication. When you enable the replication you specified a single server to be the master copy for the initial replication. These folders are from the other servers. If they contain files you want to keep then move the files into the main folder and trash this mutated folder when you are done.

These files are created to save you from overwriting important files when you enable the replication. They may also appear if you create a folder or file with the exact same name in the same folder before the FRS has replicated the original file to the other servers.

It's called a morphed folder.

The procedure is to inspect the duplicate copies to determine which contains the correct version of the files and delete the others.

"If duplicate folders are manually created on multiple domain controllers before they have been able to replicate. FRS preserves content by "morphing" folder names of the last folders to be created."
