Unable to restore backup

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

On my network I created a folder called "new folder" and two text files
called text 1 and text 2 within that folder. That evening I backed up the
network which was done correctly. This morning, as a test I deleted "new
folder" and its contents and attempted to restore the folder using the backup
utlilty on windows 2000 server. When I go to load the data from the DLT tape
drive, its keeps trying to load the data over and over again and ejects the
tape when its about a third of the way through loading. Could there be a
problem with the tape? It backs up data no problem. What could it be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
