Re: Win95/98 software and regular users

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Jim,

It should be installed in Program Files, but it still might not work.
There's no file level security in Win98. Many applications try to write to
the program folder and to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry file. The quick
way to make things work is to give Everyone full control of the program
folder & everything within and the section of HKLM that's related to that
application.

Also, make sure the program icons are where everyone can get to them,
usually Documents & Settings | All Users.

Let us know how that works.
