Universal Subscription Burned CDs from DVD Fail

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I posted this early this morning but it never showed up. So if it is duplicated
please accept my apologies

Please excuse my hardware illiteracy and overall hardware newbieness.

I am a new Univeral Subscriber.

I want to install Windows Server 2003 Enterprise onto an empty hard drive on my
my "B" machine.

My main machine is running XP Professional SP2 and has a DVD drive and a CD
drive. My B machine has only a CD drive.

This is what I tried.

1. I burned a 2003 Enterprise Setup CD from the Universal Subscription DVD and
tried the install. The B machine couldn't see the CD.

2. I burned a CD with the just the .iso file and tried again using that. The
machine couldn't see the CD.

3. I inserted a CD that I had gotten from Dell when I bought the computer
containing XP Professional SP2. The machine _could_ see the CD.

4. Just to check, I burned a CD of XP Professional SP2 from my Universal
Subscription DVD and tried it. The machine could _not_ see the CD.

5. I installed XP Professional SP2 from the Dell CD. I then inserted the CD of
Server 2003 into the CD Drive. Now the machine _could_ see the CD.

6. I didn't want to have both operating systems on one drive, so I thought I
would try to install Server 2003 onto a second drive.

7. I installed a second blank formatted hard drive and ran 2003 Setup.

Every thing went well until the Setup program tried to install the files on the
selected drive.

"Setup was unable to verify drive E:
Your computer may not have enough memory to examine the drives, or your Windows
CD may contain some corrupted files"

I got the system to install by copying the files from the DVD to a network
share and installing it from there.

This is a major problem because I cannot simply install Server 2003 directly
from a CD which I burned from my DVD.

Has any one experienced this?

TIA

Robert Zurer
