Slow login to server

Hi,

I have setup windows server 2003 std edition and I have setup windows XPP on
deskop.

when I try to login to the server, the authentication process isvery quick
but it takes a long time on apply personal setting and apply computer
setting, it takes about 3-5 minutes which is very long time just to login.

is there setting on the server or desktop to speed thing up?

NB: desktop part of the server domain, so I referring login to the domain
not to local desktop.

desktop and server is pentium 4, 1GB ram for server and 512MB for desktop
and plenty of disk space.
