Adding new 2003 server and promoting it

Hi,
I currently have a W2K Server and a small domain.
I want to replace the old server with a brand new computer which will run
2003 Server. I would like to have as many settings as possible preserved.
The current server cannot be upgraded to 2003 Server due to hardware
incompatibilities.
I have not yet installed any operating system software on the new computer.
Questions:
0) Should I physically connect the new Server to my existing domain before
installing 2003 server?
1) Can my new server have the same computer name as my old one?
2) Can I preserve all the current domain information (computers and users
both)?
3) Can I preserve all the desktop settings?
4) My current server runs SQL Server 2000. Can I get all this information
replicated?
5) Is there any online documentation I can get which will help me through
this?
My site does not have access to a high speed connection (56K only).
Thanks in advance.
