there is no such thing like a PDC in an Active Directory.
Also an environment with only one Domain Controller is not recommendable, because in case of a server failure no work may be possible any more.


So I recommend to buy a second Windows Server license together with the new hardware, install the Operating System, run DCPromo, transfer what ever roles and data you want transfer and let the old machine alive as well.
