I wound up editing the boot.ini and adding a selection with a swtich for safe mode. But.. how do I install recovery console? I am not aware of this and why I would do it. Please advise.

You still use F8, but you have to be fast and lucky. On most machines
holding down the F8 key will not work - you have to keep stabbing F8 as soon
as you turn the machine on and hope your timing is good.

A workaround is to install the recovery console - a good idea anyway. This
creates a boot menu. When the menu comes up, the server installation will
be highlighted. Hit the Enter key and then immediately hit the F8 key.

the option on boot up like on regular machines, like press f8 for

safe mode to complete my task.
