Yes, that, and also the green light of a hard drive reading and
writing
correctly turns, on most systems, from a blinking green (while I/O) to
a
stable yellow or red (depends on systems; on IBM it turns
yellow)[/quote:3a177d59e3]
You'll know if your drive failed. I've had it happen to me on both
Novell and Windows 2000. The novell console starts beeping and will
spits out error messages on the console. On the Windows server,
you'll get a message and a beep on the server. I use Dell servers
and Dell's disk management software picks up the error too. And
yes, you'll see an red light on the hard drive.
If it fails, just unplug the drive and plug it back in. Most of the
time, it will work after the bad drive is reformatted. Sometimes
though, you'll have to replace the bad drive. It's all plug and play
and the other 2 drives will still work with 1 bad drive.
