Did you mean Pro/100 VE? I ran into the same problem with the Stop error.
Here is the Intel article. Maybe this will help you out. I actually prefer
Intel adapters over the 3COM for some reason. I have ran RIS using many
Intel cards, a few 3COM cards and some Broadcom NICs. The thing with Intel
cards is you have to make modifications to your image, as you do with
several other brands of NICs.
