Re: Can;t access folder... where I have full access

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi,
I've got the following problem since last night:

Server W2K Server SP4
Arcserve Win Agent r11.1 + SP1 + latest patches

Arcserve reported 4 folders not backed up due to permissions denied.
When I checked the Permissions on the folders, Local Admin group has full
control.
I'm logged on to the server with a domain Admin account (which is part of
the Local Admin group, I double checked).

I can not access these folders anymore (locally or through UNC). Event logs
do not show anything.. don't know where to look anymore.

Thanks.
Chris

Few things:

1) If you use dedicated service account to run ArcServe, you should make this account member of Backup Operators special group on the computer where you want to perform the backup. BO group should have Read and Execute rights to the folders which are supposed to be backed up. It always worked for me this way.

2) Check if you have the ownership of the folder.

3) Check for any explicit permissions (deny for example). Make sure you are not a member of any group which is denied access to this folder.

4) When accessing it over network, a combination of share and NTFS permissions will apply, so take it into account as well. You might see Full Control locally, but if you got Read on a share permissions - your access is Read.
