I have now un-installed service pack 1 and it hasn't had any effect. I might try a soft repair on the DB before I un-install it, as its having trouble starting the security accounts manager service.
Anybody have any ideas?!

moving the file back to the C drive has had no effect.
Preparing connections takes approx 1 hour, and applying computer settings also takes approx 1 hour. I've checked the firewall service and its disabled. Its strange because it looks like it is actually working (shares are there, C$, D$, ADMIN$, SYSVOL etc.) If I remote look @ the services its status for Security Accounts Manager is 'Starting'. The integrity checks out ok using NTDSUTIL. I have also ran a Semantic fix as well to ensure its all ok... and it is!

Hi Guys,
I have upgraded one of my Win2K3 DC's to SP1... all was well until... As part of an internal standard we decided to move the NTDS.DIT file to drive D. A easy procedure i'm sure you will agree?! Well.... Rebooted the DC into DS Restore mode, ran NTDSUTIL, executed the following commands:
files move db to d:\winnt\ntds integrity
Everything checked out fine, no errors or problems whatsoever. I then rebooted the server, it took approx 2 hours to give me a Ctrl+Alt+Del, it took me a further hour for it to login and the server is not functional! I can't DC Diag it... nothing! There aren't any problematic errors that I can see in the event log, only KCC errors, but I'm assuming those errrors based on the fact that it has no contact with other servers. Most services haven't started either, when try to start them it errors.
Does anybody have any ideas?! I'm going to try and re-install SP1, if that fails, then I am going to un-install SP1, if that fails i'm going to have to try and DCPROMO it down. Obviously, DCPROMOing it down is the last thing I want to do right now!!!
Thanks Adam
if you move the file back to the previous location, does the problem dissappear?
