SP1: Network Monitor Driver

after installing SP1 on W2003 Enterprise, a "Network Monitor Driver" was added to local area connection properties - it states "Netmon packet capture driver that allows the Netmon UI to acquire packets from the local network"

do I need this?
is it important to the server or LAN functions?
