that was basically what i was asking. by using the "$" i couldn't find a
way to globally have each users view of shares correspond to their folder
access priviledges. that is, everyone can see a list of avail shares but they
do not really know if they can access them unless they click on a share. at
that point they get access or the "you do not have access..." message. with
the product "cloak" users only see shares they have access to. i couldn't
find a way to do that via command line tools and scripts.
