HP Photosmart 2610 All-In-One Scanner, Printer, Copier, Fax machine,
etc
Running on Windows Server 2003, via a wired network connection via a
router

Scanning doesn't work unless you have the Windows Image Acquisition
service running. WIA is turned off by default.

Start => All Programs=> Administrative Tools => Services
Right mouse on Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) and set it to startup
automatically.
Reboot.

Despite the runaround that HP email and phone Support will tell you
about not supporting Windows Server 2003, HP Director, HP Document
Viewer, and HP Image Zone all work, but only after enabling the WIA
Service. Also Microsoft Word => Insert => Picture => From Scanner or
Camera .. works.

The scan button on the panel on top of the HP 2610 still gives an error
"No Scan Options." "You need to install or run HP software for this
feature"
