I have installed Windows 2003 server (standard edition) for
the first time on a 'basic' PC (750Mb memory) that is about 2
years old.
Install went OK, and logon panel appears almost straight
away, but the desktop does not display for about 10 or 15
MINUTES.
During this time I can Ctrl/Alt/Delete to get the task manager
and the words 'Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition' do
appear in the bottom right hand corner.
After the desktop appears there quite a few atapi errors in the
Event viewer, so it seems to be having problems reading from
the disk.
Could it be that Windows 2003 has the wrong drivers for the
IDE installed ?
