Have you considered SUS?
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/sus/default.mspx
Btw, new version called WUS (Windows Update Services) is coming soon.
Currently available as beta. If you visit the link I have provided you will
see the invitation to evaluate the latter one at the top of the page.

Hello Microsoft Windows Update is the location from where we can download the security updates for windows. Now consider that I am having 10 windows 2000 machines on my network and I want to apply windows update to all the machines, each machine download around 30 MB of updates (This will total to 300 MB for all machines). I want such a solution where I download updates for 1 machine and stores on that machine. Next time I want to apply windows update to a fresh machine, I will pick up the downloaded updates. This will help me save my internet bandwidth. Please help Thanks Regards, John Mendonca
