shadow copy causes freeze

Hi everyone

I have noticed that whenever my server is idle, and the system starts up the
volume shadow copy service by itself (i guess as a background system task),
it causes my system to freeze up and i need to manually reboot it.

any reason why this may be happening? any harm in disabling volume shadow
copy service?
