Re: Changing PC name in a Win2K3 domain

Try:

1. On the server open the DNS console and delete any host and PTR records
for surname.

2. Join the Win2k machine to a workgroup and change the machine name to
surname. Shut down the machine.

3. Delete the first_name computer account from AD Users and Computers.
Create a new computer account called surname.

4. Open the DNS console and delete any host and PTR records for first_name.

5. Start the Win2k machine and attempt to join the domain.
